Aerial views can be fascinating
« on: 29 January 2016, 02:58:02 »
Very similar to maps, aerial views can give interesting details. Historic photos can be found in many places including Archives, and may even come from enemy reconnaissance.

Modern aerial photographs may be obtained from survey companies, hobbyists (such as Kite mappers, or drone enthusiasts), and even local estate agents/ realtors some of whom use it to help sell their properties.

There are all sorts of issues with using aerial photographs - see for example this conversation about using Aerial photos of Saxony and other German states.
