OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a free community generated map of the world.
OSM Nottingham is an unofficial site which presents data that has been added (to OSM) by volunteers in the Nottingham (UK) area.
"As well as a map, OSM is also a geo-database, and OSM Nottingham presents some of the 'hidden' data that doesn't appear in the standard map renderings. Such data includes addresses and postcodes, shop opening times, blue plaques, listed buildings and much more. Through viewing the map and the associated information presented here it is hoped more people will be encouraged to contribute in order to improve and expand the data available."
This is very similar to some of the mapping requirements for
OPS. It shares (in a limited way) some features with
M4OPS, such as:
- various historic background layers
- variable opacity
- feature layers, showing eg pubs
- attributes of features can be displayed
One commendable aspect of OSM Nottingham is its comprehensive treatment of Attribution and licencing.
