At each place where you can select a map layer (eg for the base, or the overlay) you need to select a category first and then the map you want. Many maps have both a description (accessed via the "?" button), and a key (accessed via the key button). Every map can be excluded for a particular
OPS. More maps, and regions, will be added over time. Thanks are due to all suppliers.
When a new
OPS is set up on
M4OPS some maps are immediately available. The following are available to all
OPS (under the Basic category), regardless of what region of the world they are in:
- OpenStreetMap
- Bing Aerial (satellite)
- Bing Roads
- Bing Aerial with Labels (ie with place and road names)
For
OPS in the England "region", the following maps are available under the Basic category:
- NLS 1920-1940s maps (the scale shown depends on the level of zoom)
- OS Opendata (Modern house and street data obtained from the Ordnance Survey under their Opendata programme)
- OS One Inch, 1885-1900 (Old maps hosted by the NLS)
- Bartholomew, 1897-1907 (half inch maps hosted by the NLS)
In addition, the following Great Britain planning maps from the 1940s/50s are available under the "
GB OS 10 mile" category:
