JSON - a few facts
« on: 30 July 2016, 07:54:14 »
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a syntax for storing and exchanging data - an easier-to-use alternative to XML. It converts easily to JavaScript.

This JSON formatter and validator is useful for checking a JSON (or GeoJSON) file.

Note that you can ignore error messages of the form:
  • Invalid encoding, expecting UTF-8, UTF-16 or UTF-32
  • (when using geojson) Invalid media type, expecting application/json
  • names and strings are surrounded by double quotes, and do not contain any themselves
  • there are no tabs left in
  • there are no characters outside the object
There are many other utilities etc to support the use of JSON, but see also about GeoJSON.
