The Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure research group is part of the Department of Geography's Cambridge Cultural and Historical Geography thematic research group. They have various interests, data and publications.

Their webpage on transport show images of the main road network in 1680 and 1830, and videos of the evolution of turnpike roads, railways and navigable waterways.

They are developing an Online Historical Atlas of Transport, Urbanization and Economic Development in England and Wales c.1680-1911. is a Society for One-Place Studies project supported by Grassroots Giving from Skipton Building Society
