US County Boundaries
« on: 15 October 2016, 20:05:45 »
The Atlas of Historical County Boundaries at the Newberry Library Dr. William M. Scholl Center for American History and Culture contains details of all US counties, including shapefiles (which can be used for mapping), chronologies, and metadata.

They do have an interactive map (but as of writing it is temporarily unavailable), but there is an animation showing the creation of all the states and counties of the USA over time.

Another site with animated US boundaries (and more) is Map of US .org - Historical Atlases and Maps of U.S. and States. is a Society for One-Place Studies project supported by Grassroots Giving from Skipton Building Society
