The British Library
has
one of the largest collections of maps, plans and topographical views in the world
, numbering some 4.5 million, with a chronological spread of over 2,000 years.
The collections include:
King George III Topographical and Maritime collections
Globes
Digital mapping
Manuscript maps
Ordnance survey mapping
War Office Archive maps
Some of these are available on-line. The BL also has an on-going
crowd-sourced project to georeference
many of their maps.
