Mapping Edinburgh's Social History (MESH)
« on: 9 January 2017, 18:00:54 »
The MESH project "brings together people with an interest in the history of Edinburgh. The project team will develop a variety of ‘open source’ tools – free to all members of the public – and these will make it possible for anyone to map historical data. Whether you are interested in the location of your family members, which neighbourhoods in the past had most crimes, or servants, or nesting owls, then these ‘easy-to-use’ tools are for you."

There is a comment on it in There's a team building a four-dimensional computer map of Edinburgh on the CityMetrics blog.

Although Edinburgh is a particular implementation, if the MESH team do produce a framework for anyone to map historical things at a local level, then it could be of great interest to us.
